Disagreement and dissent are not popular among anglers. There are too many sacred cows, there is too much prejudice, too much self regard. Fishermen can be a churlish bunch; anything that rocks their complacent boats often provokes hostility and abuse. Consequently there is little commentary on fishing books, ideas, magazines, organisations, forums, etc worth reading. Everything is presented as universally good, and woe betide anyone who says otherwise.
The point of this blog is to offer criticism on angling topics about which others fear to speak – to uncover truths, point out failings, offer alternative, sometimes controversial views, and, I hope, provide a good read. Most fishing blogs are tedious expositions of fishing adventures – without the sense of adventure of course. This will be different.
